This week is National Homelessness Week, and I think we can all agree it’s a disgrace that this needs to exist. Perth Homeless Support Group feed and support over 500 homeless people a week (between our 3 outreach services), and assist dozens more under the poverty line with emergency hampers. That 500 is only a fraction of those struggling in WA. There is no quick fix to this complex issue. We know from within organisations such as ours, that the support needed for these individuals extends beyond a roof over their head. We hope that one day this page will be closed and we no longer need to exist, looking back years from now as “something we once did.” Until that day, we would like to thank everyone who supports the homeless community in any way you can - donating money, donating time, liking our posts, attending our fundraisers, or stopping to have a conversation with a streetie sometime. In the simple things like a meal, clean socks or even a smile, we restore dignity, and in doing that restore hope. This week we would love it, if you are able to, to donate a jar of coffee ☕️ a new pair of socks, a roll on deodorant or a tube of toothpaste to us, to pass on to those in need. Can you please help? 🙏 As the cold sets in, cups of soup are a warm comfort to our street friends. We are in desperate need of these in all flavours please, if anyone is able to help with either a work collection or a box or 2 privately. Donations can be dropped off to our depot 2/28 Munt St Bayswater between 9-2 weekdays, in the donation bin after hours (please put in a plastic bag incase water drips in), or we can arrange collection from your office.
