It’s Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in Australia! This month is a time to raise awareness, deepen understanding, and unite as a community to prevent domestic and family violence — its causes, its impacts, and how we can drive change together. The statistics are confronting: • 1 in 4 women have experienced violence by an intimate partner since the age of 15 (AIHW) • On average, one woman is killed every nine days by a current or former partner (Homicide in Australia) • Women aged 18 and over with disability are more likely to have recent experiences of violence, abuse and harassment than women without disability.
