Autumn afternoons spent reading. Our Balmain classes enjoy dedicated library time each week in Ngarabanyi. This allocated time allows the students to immerse themselves in the world of books, selecting, reading, and unwinding in the cozy corners. With well over 7,000 books in Ngarabanyi, there’s no end to the literacy experience. The shelves are dynamic and ever-expanding. We are happy to be cultivating avid readers! (fb)
Our Upper Primary students were grateful for a welcome break in the rain on Friday afternoon whilst hosting a community bake sale to raise money for Make-A-Wish Australia. Hot on the heels of last term’s bake sale success, a small group of Grevillea students instigated this honourable endeavour. The group described how "Make-A-Wish Australia is a charity that grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. They bring amazing people together to help grant their wishes. We have chosen Make-A-Wish Australia to donate to because it is a wonderful organisation and we want to bring more attention to it". Montessori’s interdisciplinary approach to education encourages children to use their reasoning mind, practise questioning, finding consequences, cause and effect, learning to form an opinion and to see what would they do differently in our world.
