The Healthy Eating Advisory Service (HEAS) has been supporting Victorian organisations in key community settings (hospitals and health services, early childhood services, outside school hours care providers, schools and sport and recreation facilities) to provide and promote healthier food and drinks since 2012. This year marks the 10year anniversary of the introduction of HEAS Our work in advocacy has significantly increased on previous years with a dedicated focus on the following areas to improve healthy eating for all Australians: this is largely due to the growing number of collaborations through: 1. The Fruit & Vegetable Consortium (Nutrition Australia Vic Division) 2. Nutrition for Older Australians Alliance 3. The Food Systems / Food Security Working Group (VicHealth), where we developed a consensus statement to catalyse a transition towards a healthy, regerative and equitable food system in Victoria 4. The National Nutrition Network Early Childhood (Edith Cowan University) 6. The Health Promotion Peaks COVID19 Working Group (VicHealth) 7. The Public Health and Consumer Groups Advocacy collaboration 8. The climate and Health Alliance We hosted National Nutrition Week Try for 5. This year s theme, Get more veg in your life sought to provide practical tips, strategies and recipes to inspire all Australians in the second year of the Coronavirus pandemic to eat more vegetables. Vic Kids Eat Well was launched in January 2022, collaboration of Cancer Council Victoria s Achievement Program (AP), in partnership with Nutrition Australia s Healthy Eating Advisory Service. We codelivered VegKIT (with CSIRO and Flinders University ), a fiveyear national project that aims to increase children s vegetable intake and the places where children learn and eat through research and development activities, and by engaging with government, and industry. VegKIT aims to reach users from a range of settings including research, public health, and food industry. Campaigns and presentations have been executed to garner further interest in the project, and much work has been done to disseminate VegKIT resources.
