Year 6 students recently explored four of Canberra’s best-known play spaces: Ruth Park in Coombs, Inner North Playspace in Dickson, Boundless in Parkes and Weston Park in Yarralumla. The excursion formed part of their Art and Design Technologies studies, offering a real-world opportunity to examine how playgrounds are created. The hands-on experience helped them observe how design choices, from structure to surface, affect how people engage and interact. It offered an authentic lens into design thinking, encouraging students to reflect on how creativity and function come together in everyday environments. (fb)

Year 4 students recently visited the Wildbark Learning Centre at Mulligans Flat as part of their environmental science studies. The Round Robin Tour guided them through four engaging learning stations focused on animal habitats, extinction, and species preservation. Students explored the unique role of hollow homes and coarse woody debris in supporting native wildlife. They also discovered the fascinating world of reptiles and the broader significance of conservation efforts in this local sanctuary.
