Skills Impact Ltd is an Australian not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing and maintaining industry skills standards and qualifications within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Operating as an industry-owned body, Skills Impact played a significant role as a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) from 2016 until 2022.
In 2023, Skills Impact transitioned to establish Skills Insight, one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs) recognized in Australia. This expansion was supported by over 200 letters from diverse industry stakeholders, reflecting broad endorsement of its role. Skills Insight maintains a scope similar to the previous coverage of Skills Impact as an SSO but with an enhanced mandate to foster a responsive VET system and contribute to shaping a skilled and resilient national workforce.
Skills Impact’s core mission revolves around the creation and management of nationally recognized skills standards and qualifications that align with evolving industry needs. Through this, the organization supports workforce development and promotes continuous skill enhancement across various sectors.

Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation SSO role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils JSCs after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC Skills Insight has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.
