A study recently published in Nature Ecology & Evolution, "Insights from a century of data reveal global trends in ex-situ living plant collections". This study creates a 'meta collection' out of the accession records of 50 botanic gardens from around the world, and analyses trends in that collection over 100 years, such as proportions of wild-sourced to garden-sourced material, quantity of rare and threatened species, the effect of international legislation and many other fascinating and thought-provoking insights. It is a brilliant paper and a must-read for anyone and everyone in the botanic garden world. You can access the paper here: (fb)

Welcome to the MBG The Mossman Botanic Garden based in the heart of Mossman QLD Australia encircled by the beautiful Daintree Ranges THE GARDEN OF ORIGINS When complete the MBG will be a botanic garden showcasing and conserving the extraordinary and unique plants found in the W PRESERVING TROPICAL RAINFORESTS The MBG will be an important research and training botanic garden championing critical tropical rainforest conservation AN ICONIC TOURIST DESTINATION The MBG will increase the whole of destination touring experience for visitors to Far North Queensland SPONSOR A SQUARE Making the Mossman Botanic Garden a reality. one square at a time To bring Mossman Botanic Garden to life we need your support. Our initial site is just over 20 hectares in size and weve divided it into individual squares one square metre. Each square is now available to sponsor as a oneoff or on an annual basis for 25 with 100 of the money going directly to deliver our vision.
