United Nations Day is observed in Australia on 24 October each year to commemorate the entry into force of the United Nations charter in 1945. This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations. The overarching theme for the United Nations 80th Anniversary in 2025 is “Better together: 80 years and More for Peace, Development and Human rights”, which emphasizes global unity and commitment to the UN’s core goals. Other specific themes for 2025 include the UNs participation at Expo 2025 under the banner “United for a Better Future” and a specific theme for Holocaust Remembrance Day: “Holocaust remembrance and education for dignity and human rights”.
