This semester, Junior School students at Hills Grammar have embarked on an enriching educational journey through the creation of silent films, an initiative designed to enhance their creative, collaborative, and critical thinking skills. This project culminated in a Silent Film Night, an event where our students proudly presented their completed works to an audience. The films, crafted without the use of dialogue, utilise music and visual storytelling to impart positive messages centred on the theme of cause and effect. This approach encouraged students to think innovatively about how to communicate ideas solely through non-verbal means. The structured process involved in this project included the students writing original narratives, translating these stories into detailed storyboards, and finally, producing and filming their cinematic visions. Through this process, students engaged in different roles such as filming, editing, and acting, thereby gaining a holistic understanding of film production. We are honoured to welcome guest presenter Dayne Hudson, Class of 2005, as the guest of honour for this event. His involvement highlighted the enduring connections within our educational community and offered inspiration to our burgeoning young filmmakers. In just a few months, Year 12 will become the newest members of TOHGA - our alumni association. Recently, they had a blast creating their self portraits to be printed on special tea towel through a fun drawing activity. It was a great reminder that our community isn’t just about current students, but also about the Alumni and the strong network that connects us all. Here’s to building lifelong connections! (fb)
