Many thanks to the Hargraves Pipe Organ team for repairing our amazing Church organ so well it seems like it was restored. It sounds great too! (fb)
What Does It Cost to Build a Church? When our church opened its doors in December 1876, it was meant to have a steeple. But like many building plans, that idea was set aside—because of the high cost. Even so, the opening was marked by four days of joyful celebration. Rev. Joseph Dare, was noted as a giving an “eloquent sermon” based on 2 Samuel 7:22: "How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you." But reading more of that chapter tells a deeper story. David wanted to build a house for God—but God responded by building something far greater: a covenant with David himself. A covenant is a sacred promise made by God and still applies to us today. Rev. Dare’s sermon reminded the congregation that sometimes, our plans aren’t the same as God’s. And that’s still true nearly 150 years later. Whether we’re laying bricks or planning the future, faith often calls us to trust not in what we want to build, but in what God is building through us. This is just one story that is part of our 150th Anniversary in December 2026. We hope you will join us! (fb)
