Home - Warrior Woman Foundation

The Warrior Woman Foundation empowers vulnerable young women to become strong, independent & capable of taking their place in the world. We are a registered & trademarked Australian charity, Public Benevolent Institution & Deductible Gift Recipient. Our flagship service is called the Young Warrior Woman Program. We achieved our mission and objectives through our holistic threepronged approach based on the Self Determination Theory. 1. Connection and Belonging We provided a safe and welcoming space for vulnerable and underrepresented young women to share, learn, heal and grow. Each young woman (Young Warrior) was connected with a Mentor as well as a network of diverse communityminded women who continue to provide ongoing support and share their life experiences, resources and opportunities. Each Young Warrior experienced the following: Connection to a safe, stable, and socially inclusive network of female role models to turn to for advice and ongoing support for the duration of the sixmonth program. Connection to a nonjudgmental group of young women who are facing similar challenges. Connection to Kindred Warrior Peers, young women who have experienced living in the OOHC system and have gone on to achieve life success. Weekly onetoone mentoring sessions with a safe Mentor. 2. Life Skills Education We taught our Young Warriors the life skills they need to succeed in everyday life. Our teach a young woman to fish approach gives them support and guidance at every step, knowing that true empowerment comes from them learning to do things for themselves. In particular, we focused on financial literacy and job readiness. Each Young Warrior participated in the following: Lifeskills workshops to build selfreliance. A sixweek Financial Literacy program (in partnership with MoneyGirl). A fourweek Job Readiness program. Assistance in gaining and retaining meaningful employment. Access to a range of vocational skills scholarships (e.g., Code Like a Girl) and internships. 3. Mental Health Support Many of our Young Warriors had experienced trauma which has negatively impacted their confidence, selfesteem and selfworth. We supported and nurtured the trauma healing process in safe psychoeducational workshops facilitated by experts in their field. In these sessions, our Young Warriors learned to engage with selfcompassion, and to soften and contain threatbased emotions, such as fear and anxiety, anger, shame and selfcriticism.

The Warrior Woman Foundation Ltd

The Warrior Woman Foundation Ltd is a nonprofit organization registered in Australia with the Australian Business Number (ABN) 39639603071RR0001. It focuses on providing holistic, evidence-based support programs for under-represented and vulnerable young Australian women aged 17-25+ years. The foundation aims to empower these young women to become resilient and independent, particularly those at risk of not completing high school, those transitioning from out-of-home care, and others who require guidance and direction.

History

The foundation was established in 2020 by Jessica Brown, who was inspired by her experiences as a high school teacher in Western Sydney. Her motivation also stemmed from a personal tragedy, which underscored the need for support systems for young people leaving care. The foundation's core programs are designed to address critical areas such as financial literacy, healthy relationships, and mental health support.

Programs

  • Young Warrior Woman Program: This program is a comprehensive, multi-discipline initiative that provides life-skills education, mental health support, and connection to a network of female mentors (termed Wise Warriors). It covers a range of topics including financial literacy, money management, healthy relationships, sexual health, mental health, and career development.

  • Corporate Virtual Mentor Hub: This program connects professional mentors from various industries with young women across Australia. It offers career guidance, networking opportunities, and skill development to help mentees achieve their career aspirations.

  • Warrior Woman Virtual Mentor Hub: Currently in development, this platform aims to provide a flexible and accessible mentoring environment. It will leverage technology to connect mentees with experienced mentors, enhancing the impact and reach of the mentorship program.

Mission

The Warrior Woman Foundation is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of young women within the Australian community. By providing essential support and empowerment tools, the foundation enables these women to lead safe, secure, and independent lives. The programs are guided by principles of holistic support and social justice, aiming to create strong, capable, and resilient women who can thrive in society.

Impact

The foundation's work impacts not only the young women it serves directly but also contributes to broader societal goals related to women's empowerment and community well-being. Through ongoing engagement with alumni, participants can maintain relationships with mentors and peers, continuing their personal and professional growth.
