National representative persons org for children & young people with disability, 0-25 years 👏 Driving inclusion, creating equitable pathways, supporting young people to take control 💪 CYDA s activities in the year included: The second National Youth Disability Summit completely codesigned by young people with disability The continuation of our Young Leaders Program The appointment of 12 young people to CYDA s second Youth Council Over 400 young people participating in CYDA events and programs Our systemic advocacy saw 13 submissions to government consultations and inquiries, informed by deep consultation with young people and families of children with disability, as well as 11 webinars on 6 topics focusing on inclusive education. We have engaged in research and the creation of new resources, including the development on a Guide to Digitally Inclusive and Accessible CoDesign, resources to support young people and their carers to understand the Disability Standards for Education, and research about the impact of COVID19 on postschool transitions for students with disability. CYDA made a significant contribution to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse and Neglect of People with Disability, with five formal submissions and two forums to provide guidance to young people on how to make submissions to the Royal Commission. CYDA also supported two young people to give evidence at the Disability Royal Commission public hearings which examined the experience of children and young people with disability with different education settings. Children and young people with disability and their families have been often missed in the pandemic planning and response, which has meant that CYDA has needed to continue to strongly advocate about their needs across education, employment and vaccination discrimination.
