Rescue/Care stats for 24/25 At least 1,385 cases were attended, plus a couple dozen that were not recorded properly. It was not as busy as the year before, thankfully for us and the animals. 314 of those were just pouch checks. 67 passed away for various reasons. 106 had unknown outcomes for various reasons (missing etc). 215 had to be quietly euthanised due to serious injury. 683 were rescued, taken into care, re-homed, relocated, rehabilitated or freed and returned to the bush. That is pretty close to HALF of all cases had great outcomes. Around 100 animals came into our care for short or extended periods of time, the shortest being a couple days and the longest being up to 2 years (a small orphan joey for example). Those are good enough odds for us to continue getting up and going out there every day, pretty much no questions asked. The images are from a recent Koala relocation stuck in a pine tree in a dog run ... silly girl. Had a couple helpers on this rescue. Don't even talk about OH&S it will just make us cranky. Us old country bastards and young country blokes just get the job done. (fb)
