Veg/ Vegan community restaurant located right next door to Kathmandu Guest House. Peaceful, clean, healthy...and making a difference to a whole community. We received two Public Diplomacy grants from the Australian Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal through Sarangi Social Enterprise (Nepal), our local implementing partner. We continue to work with traditional women artists in creating powerful awarenessraising projects. We created a mural at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) in Kathmandu Nepal, which is the implementing body of the Nepal Eye Program. They work with The Fred Hollows Foundation, and play a key role in refining and adapting a practical, safe, and affordable technique of intraocular lens implant for cataract surgery in developing countries. The mural art is currently being turned into glasses cases that are being donated to TIO and Fred Hollows Foundation for promotional purposes. We also partnered with the Rotary Club of Kathmandu MidTown in a major nationwide snakebite prevention project. We worked with the same traditional women artists to create promotional materials for the project eg posters, radio programs and social media information material. This project was supported by the Australian Embassy in Kathmandu through a Public Diplomacy grant. Our sewing team in Nepal created Tshirts for the project. New sewing machines specifically designed for knits were purchased and have expanded our scope of work. We created shopping bags from the mural art we created at Lalgadh Leprosy Hospital in Dhanusha. These were used for fundraising purposes in the UK. We also created shopping bags for Samenleven, an Islamic notforprofit in The Netherlands. Our projects empower the women artists who are now regularly engaged in other promotional work using their artwork. Our projects provide skills training and employment for our sewing team.
