The Riverlee Foundation is an Australian nonprofit philanthropic fund associated with the Riverlee property group, dedicated to supporting charitable causes with a primary focus on empowering disadvantaged young people through education. The foundation operates with the aim of enhancing opportunities and skill development to bring about positive social outcomes for youth in Australia.
Overview
The Riverlee Foundation was established as part of Riverlee's broader commitment to creating thriving communities. Recognizing the importance of ethical decision-making and sustainable practices, the foundation complements Riverlee’s corporate framework that emphasizes environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, including sustainability, Indigenous recognition, community welfare, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Mission and Activities
The foundation’s mission centers on education as a crucial pathway for improving life outcomes, supporting charities that focus on youth development, especially for those facing disadvantage. In addition to education, the foundation contributes to health and medical research organizations, often those with which the Riverlee family or business has a personal connection, emphasizing impactful use of donations by smaller organizations.
Supported Causes and Partnerships
The Riverlee Foundation partners with a range of charitable organizations, including:
- Asian Australian Foundation
- Chinese Museum
- Epworth Medical Foundation
- Hawthorn Community Chest
- Northern Health Foundation
- Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH)
- Western Chances
These partnerships reflect the foundation’s commitment to education, healthcare, and community support.
Connection to the Riverlee Family
The philanthropic efforts of the foundation are closely intertwined with the personal experiences of the Riverlee family. A notable example is their support for the Royal Children’s Hospital, motivated by the family’s personal experience when Kevin Lee’s young son received treatment at the hospital. This connection has deepened the foundation’s dedication to supporting children’s health causes.
Impact
By funding initiatives that empower young people through education and supporting health and research organizations, the Riverlee Foundation seeks to foster real and lasting improvements in the lives of Australians, especially youth facing challenges. The foundation forms a key part of Riverlee’s broader social responsibility strategy aimed at shaping inclusive, resilient communities for the future.

MAX ANGUS HOUSE | From the moment we discovered 116 Bathurst Street in nipaluna/Hobart, we knew we wanted to honour what was already meaningful about this place. Built in 1959, this mid-century building features celebrated Tasmanian artist Max Angus AM’s distinctive Mondrian-inspired mosaic façade. According to his son Peter Angus, this is likely the only remaining public art of Max Angus’ in the city—and his family is thrilled that it’s being recognised. Rather than imposing a new identity, we chose to celebrate what was already there. Now reimagined as Max Angus House, this repositioned building stands as both workspace and cultural tribute, complete with its remarkable 20-metre indoor rubber fig tree that has grown through the building’s heart for decades. Preserving heritage, fostering creativity, and cultivating spaces where businesses can thrive within @inthehanginggarden precinct.
