Youth HEAR Ltd is an Australian nonprofit organisation focused on combating hate and discrimination by educating young Australians about the Holocaust. The organisation's mission is to mitigate hatred in society by connecting youth with the historical memory and lessons of the Holocaust, fostering awareness about the consequences of unchecked hate and discrimination beyond antisemitism[1][2][3].
History and Purpose
Youth HEAR (Youth Holocaust Education And Remembrance) was established to address the rise in antisemitism, racial hatred, and discrimination globally and within Australia. By educating young people about the Holocaust, Youth HEAR aims to promote tolerance, understanding, and respect across communities. The organisation emphasizes that while antisemitism targets Jewish people, the broader issue of discrimination affects many groups, making its educational mission relevant to all[1].
Activities and Programs
Youth HEAR operates through education, commemoration, and cross-community collaboration. It engages young Australians primarily between the ages of 15 and 25, along with adults involved in youth education and community initiatives[2][4]. Its programs include:
- Holocaust education workshops and presentations
- Commemorative events such as Yom HaShoah
- Initiatives to raise awareness of anti-discrimination and hate prevention
These efforts are designed to empower youth with knowledge and empathy, encouraging proactive rejection of hate and fostering social cohesion[1][2].
Community Impact
Located in Sydney, New South Wales, Youth HEAR serves the local and national communities by providing educational resources and programs that contribute to the prevention of hatred and discrimination. The organisation’s commitment to youth engagement helps to build a foundation for a more inclusive and respectful society, especially at a time when incidents of antisemitism and racially motivated hatred have been increasing[1][4].
Governance and Legal Status
Youth HEAR Ltd is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and operates as a charity under Australian law. Its Australian Business Number (ABN) is 45655025988RR0001. The organisation’s governance structure ensures that its programs align with its charitable objectives focused on education and anti-discrimination[2][4].
Youth HEAR Ltd exemplifies the role of nonprofit organisations in fostering critical historical awareness and combating social hate through youth-centered education and community cooperation.

Yesterday marked two years since the tragic events of October 7, 2023. A day that forever changed our community and the world. While we paused from posting due to the Sukkot holiday, our hearts and minds remained with the events of that day, reflecting on the lives lost, the families impacted, the hostages still held and the deep wounds still felt across our community. Over the past two years, we’ve hosted events titled ‘Not Great, Actually’, connecting the Jewish community with psychologists and mental health professionals who offered support, tools, and space to process the impact of October 7. From these powerful conversations, we developed a resource pack to help individuals and communities engage thoughtfully with this anniversary, through learning, discussion, and commemoration. You can find the link in our bio. May the memories of those we lost be a blessing. (fb)
The last entry in Anne Frank’s diary is from three days before she was transported to the concentration camps. Anne's diary is an intimate, first-person account of the Holocaust from the young girl’s perspective. Her writing allows us a glimpse into the horrific persecution, hatred, and antisemitism of the Holocaust. What is Anne Frank's legacy? What has she lived to rewrite her diary after the camps? Join us on Thursday, 18 September, at Anne Being Frank to explore the stories Anne never lived to write. Get discounted tickets for Young Adult Theatre Night on Thursday, the 18th of September, using the link in our bio. (fb)

By young people for young people. Youth Holocaust Education And Remembrance HEAR is an organisation dedicated to mitigating hate in society by connecting young Australians with the memory of the Holocaust. Mitigating hate in our society is about making everyone aware of where hate leads when left unchecked. Antisemitism might be hatred towards Jews but discrimination is not unique to the Jewish people.
