RACE for 2030 is an industry led Cooperative Research Centre that aims to accelerate the transition to Reliable, Affordable, Clean Energy for 2030 RACE for 2030 Limited was established on 16 April 2020 with the mission to drive innovation for a secure, affordable, clean energy future. The Company s aim is to encourage the competitiveness, productivity and sustainability of Australian industries where a competitive advantage is present. The principal activities undertaken this period within the Company involved the development and investment in collaborative research projects to drive energy innovation across the supply chain to deliver improved, lower cost and lower emission energy services for energy customers which will increase distributed clean energy uptake by increasing load flexibility and support the growth of Australian energy technology businesses. RACE for 2030 is an industry led collaborative research centre established in 2020 with $68.5 million of Commonwealth funding. The remainder of resources come from our 90 partners who cover the whole value chain from end user back to network, technology companies, governments, and many of Australia s leading energy researchers. They have planned to invest $350 million of resources over 10 years to catalyse lower energy costs and a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. The research is organised in four programs: RACE for Business, RACE for Homes, RACE for Networks and RACE for Everyone (covering crosssectoral issues). RACE s research learnings will be driven into the market through market transformation programs to deliver targets of reducing energy costs, cut carbon emissions and increase customer load flexibility to allow increased penetration of renewables in the grid and increased reliability.
