In April our volunteer Chana Schulman ran a 2 day double marathon around her home in Aberdeen to raise money for flying fox disaster relief. On Sunday she ran 42.3km and not content with that got up and did the same thing the next day! Chana and Luka raised $1705! A special note of thanks to the amazing Wannangini Aboriginal Corporation for their support and major corporate donation! Osprey Update! We have had eyes on the skies for the last few days; collating hundreds of messages from our incredible community in an attempt to verify the health of our adored Speers Point ospreys. We’re relieved to confirm that all four birds (including the bird of concern, ID’ed by some distinct markings) have been observed both hunting and eating - seemingly without issue! While this is fantastic news, the possibility exists that the line and/or hook has been swallowed, so please give us a call if you notice any concerning behaviour or weakness. The overwhelming response to our appeal for help was truly heartwarming, and was a welcome reminder to all our volunteers that our work is not only important to the animals, but to the entire community of people who cherish seeing them happy and healthy in the wild.
