Last Thursday, eight of our College chess players travelled to Melbourne to compete in the Northern Star Chess Secondary Open State Finals. The students were among 446 competitors fighting for top spots in a highly intense competition that attracted some of the best young chess players in the state. Shoutout to Seumas L. and Dhevesh M., who both earned bronze medals in their age categories. Overall, the Beaconhills team, which also included Shyam I., Prince N., Abel T., James F., Tash S., and Sam O., finished 11th among 71 schools. A big congratulations to our Beaconhills swimmers who competed at the National Country Swimming Championships in Darwin during the holidays. Zac P. from Berwick Campus, along with Ray G., Emma G., Sarah L., and Patrick W. from Pakenham Campus, took part in 38 races and qualified for the finals, placing in the top 10 in every event. Their outstanding efforts brought home a total of 25 medals! The student’s success is supported by the expertise of Cooper Lambert, a Pakenham Campus alum (Class of 2023) who coaches our swimmers and plays an important role in their ongoing development.
