Still Saving Lives, Every Day 🦢 If you’ve ever visited Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, you’ve probably seen Jane—quietly moving through the centre, gently guiding both animals & volunteers with care & wisdom. For over 7 years, Jane has been at the heart of our centre. Now, as lead supervisor, she’s transformed how we work—creating a space where learning, teamwork, and shared ideas thrive. From orphaned joeys to injured birds, Jane’s care reaches every corner. She even created a duckling shelter system we now use every season 💚 Jane leads weekly case meetings, supports animal releases, and helps connect us with amazing groups like Peel Marsupial Care & Estuary Guardians. What makes her truly special? She makes every volunteer feel VALUED & CAPABLE. Her quiet leadership shows that together, we can make a real impact. Want to be part of this? Join our volunteer team and help us give wildlife a second chance. 🐾 For the full story or to donate go to https://www.mandurahwildlife.com.au/ #MandurahWildlife #WildlifeVolunteers #VolunteerWA #WildlifeRescue #CommunityCare #PeelRegion #mandurahconservation (fb)
Autumm - Winter What Mandurah Locals Should Know About Our Wildlife The shift from April into May marks a quiet turning point for animals across the Peel region. Things might seem still on the surface, but underneath, there’s plenty going on—sometimes right under your feet. From reptiles retreating into hiding, to frogs beginning their seasonal chorus, here’s what to expect—and what to look out for—as Mandurah eases into winter. 🐍 Snakes: Slowing Down, But Still Around 🦎 Bobtails & Bluetongues: Prepping for Brumation 🐸 Motorbike frog and quacking frog begin their winter breeding season 🦘 Kangaroos staying Active, More Visible 🦦 Brush-Tailed Possums often sneak into roof cavities or sheds Winter in Mandurah may seem like a sleepy season, but it’s far from lifeless. Our native animals are adjusting—some retreating, others emerging, all doing what they need to survive. Whether it’s a frog croaking in a hidden pond or a bobtail tucked beneath the mulch, there’s still so much happening if you know where (and how) to look. Respecting these seasonal rhythms helps us coexist with the creatures that make this place wild—and wonderful.
