Guides Queensland

Home

A member-owned, not for profit organisation that empowers girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members. GIrl Guides Queensland provides a nonformal education program designed to create leaders of tomorrow through developing personal skills, understanding and building on each individual's strengths. The program includes a variety of fun activities that focus on selfdevelopment in the areas of practical skills, physical development and relationships with people, appropriate to age and interests. Guides of all ages are involved in decisionmaking, planning and implementing and evaluating their activities. Guiding is all about being part of a team. Leadership development begins with the youngest Guides and develops as the girls mature. All the activities from weekly meetings, camps, expeditions to community service are driven by the Guides themselves with support and guidance from their Leaders, and are planned to match the Guides' abilities. This process helps ensure that our primary purpose of empowering girls and young women to discover their potential as leaders of their world, is met.
