Last Thursday Night (28th August) at Hume Conservatorium a full house enjoyed an evening of screen music presented by the conservatorium students and staff. Musical Director Alison Beckett treated the audience to an array of songs from the big, small and tiny screens that fill our lives, bringing together 9 performing groups from the Conservatorium. “Thursday’s celebration of screen music was was a joy to curate,” said Alison Beckett, Head of Composition and Classical Ensembles. “We brought out the best in what the Con has to offer the community, and I was proud to be a part of the team that pulled the show together.” For the Finale everyone was on stage for This is Me from The Greatest Showman - a poignant song that encapsulated the Conservatorium motto: Music is for Everyone. Conservatorium CEO George Brenan said: “The aim of this concert was to give all our classical students an opportunity to work together in presenting the large scale movie, TV and gaming music so many of us enjoy. Our students and staff created a really enjoyable evening. It took a lot of coordination, so I’m grateful for the support of everyone involved.” Over 100 students and staff were involved- with individual choirs and groups each presenting some items, combining groups as needed to suit each piece. Thank you to everyone who was involved - from the multitude of performers, staff who gave countless hours in preparation and the volunteers helping to keep everything running smoothly - what an amazing show you have put on, we are so proud.
