Opening soon! For MAKING DO RHYMES WITH POO, Justene Williams presents performances and an installation building on ideas of conscious and unconscious forms of labour undertaken by the body. Using a polyphony of materials (including radios, foil, cardboard, water, timber, foam, industrial bags, video projections, screens, costumes, mirrors and pulped paper) Justene will perform a working week over seven days, completing menial tasks with her body that transform the gallery into other possibilities — a pond, the night sky, a factory, a shrine, a shop, a dump, or a workshop. "The gallery is the studio and the stage, a space where action, energy, ideas and sounds are produced, made and unmade across the week. Labour is presented as pleasure, play and pain." Opening & performance: 5.30pm, Friday 30 May 2025 Exhibition: 31 May – 12 July 2025 Performances continue 12 – 5pm: Saturday 31 May Sunday 1 June Tuesday 3 June Wednesday 4 June Thursday 5 June Friday 6 June Main gallery, Contemporary Art Tasmania Find out more: https://contemporaryarttasmania.org/programs/making-do-rhymes-with-poo/ Image courtesy of the artist, 2025. For Journal, Chloe Black brings a dose of comedy and reflection to our current exhibitions, musing on her time at art school, bogan butterflies and a jar of ghee. Chloe Black is a stand up comedian, screenwriter and DJ. She has performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She is the writer and creator of the Web series TRANSFERRED and JENNIFER ERIC IS CANCELLED as well as her animated series LETTER CLUB with animation studio Turbo Chook. Coming out nearly 10 years ago to friends and family has freed her up to not only find her true self but has given her work a unique point of view and a voice with which to tell it. 📖 Read the full piece online now (link in bio) @chloeblackcomedy Image: Sarah Contos, MoTH-eRR, 2023-24 📷 Peter Mathew (fb)
