Diversity Arts Australia
Diversity Arts Australia (DARTS) is a national arts organisation advocating for cultural diversity & racial equity in the creative sector. #DiversityArtsAu Advancing cultural diversity in the arts in Australia. We supported people from underrepresented migrant, refugee and culturally and racially marginalised (CaRM) backgrounds through arts/creative mentorship, tailored programs, and brokering employment and work (eg Disability and Culturally Diverse Internship program). We supported the organisations and groups working with these communities through our research and advocacy work. We strengthened the arts and cultural sectors by delivering diversity and inclusion programs and resources (eg. Creative Equity Toolkit; Fair Play training programs) which increased knowledge and capacity to work with underrepresented groups (eg. First Nations, people with disability and culturally diverse) aimed to increase engagement and opportunities for those communities in the arts and cultural sectors in Victoria, NSW and nationally. Eg. Fair Play programs (http://diversityarts.org.au/project/fairplay/). We increased community awareness about the underrepresentation of culturally and linguistically diverse people in leadership roles in the arts and cultural sectors through research, reports (e.g. StoryCasters Report), talks, seminars and publishing articles and newsletters. We continued to publish new Topic Areas of the Creative Equity Toolkit, and to publish monthly newsletters, providing practical resources to support the arts and cultural sectors in delivering their equity, diversity and inclusion objectives (Eg. Creative Equity Toolkit http://diversityarts.org.au/project/diversitytoolkit). Additionally, we commissioned a series of First Nations and cultural diversity Case Studies demonstrating leading practices in racial equity (https://diversityarts.org.au/project/imagineproject/). We developed targeted programs and workshops for underrepresented culturally diverse communities, including people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, young people in Western Sydney, and People with Disability to support increased engagement, opportunities and employment pathways in the arts and cultural sectors eg. Storycasters (http://diversityarts.org.au/project/storycasters/), Disability and Culturally Diverse Internship and This is Who We Are. We published audiovisual resources, including two Colour Cycle Podcast Seasons to educate, inform and advocate for greater inclusion. Eg diversityarts.org.au/project/thecolourcycle We provided support, advice and resources to underrepresented culturally and linguistically diverse artists, creative workers and also to organisations seeking to work with these groups through our newsletters, seminars, website and via email and phone support.
