The NTRCA aims to shape discourse about the delivery of evidence informed therapeutic residential care to children and young people in out of home care. In 2021/22 the NTRCA held a series of strategic planning workshops to create a refreshed vision and scope for the Alliance. From these workshops the alliance developed a new Statement of Strategic Intent. The Alliance developed an advocacy paper about the need for a national approach to the management of COVID 19 and its impacts on the people we support, our staff and our organisations. The issues canvassed in the paper ranges from government mandating of vaccinations of the workforce to the need for the statutory care authorities to focus on ensuring that vulnerable children were vaccinated. The paper called for a national approach rather than the jurisdictional specific model. The paper was sent to all State and Commonality Government Ministers who hold relevant portfolios. The Alliance hosted several meetings of the Queensland Chapter and demonstrated to the government the impacts on the workforce and the challenges with maintaining service continuity while the workforce was isolated as close contacts.
