Traumatic Brain Injury | Concussions & TBIs Australia Resources

Connectivity works to improve the lives of patients and their families following traumatic brain injury of all severities, including concussion. Connectivity is a not-for-profit organisation working to help improve the lives of people with traumatic brain injury (TBI). We support research and connect those both working in or living with TBI across Australia. Connectivity Traumatic Brain Injury Australia delivered on its purpose of promoting the prevention and control of diseases and disease processes experienced by people with a traumatic brain injury (TBI), including from a physical, mental, neurological and functional perspective. This was achieved by linking together people, carers, researchers, clinicians and health care providers to build the evidence base and improve outcomes for people with TBI through the following key areas: (1) Raising Awareness: Created, delivered and advertised a series of concussion education campaigns for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (ATSI) raising awareness of the need to seek medical care after a concussion. Updating and maintaining Connectivity s website www.connectivity.org.au with specific uptodate TBI information, research, stories and news. Extensive social media, radio and TV advertising and awareness campaigns promoting the Concussion Short Course and ATSI education campaigns. (2) Improving Outcomes: Commissioned a stakeholder engagement piece on the needs of people and organisations that encounter TBI. This was accepted for publication as a Special Communication by the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation. Provided a platform via our website for TBI researchers to promote their work. (3) Supporting People Developed and delivered a free online Concussion Short Course and a range of supporting fact sheets. (4) Connecting Community Continued to grow our Lived Experience Advisory Group and connected many of these people to TBI specific researchers and projects across Australia. Expanded our support for Local Area Networks for TBI within the community with the creation of a funding grant to support additional community based Local Area Networks.
