Helping kids achieve their goals and independence through supported pathways. Through collaborations with local industry, industry bodies, the Department of Education, local schools, Workforce Australia agencies, Training Services and RTO s, ST provide the opportunity for young people disconnected from school or community to participate in reengagement programs which are based on personal interests, developing a passion for learning and a better understanding of employment pathways. It provides the opportunity for our young people to immerse themselves in a variety of locally connected industries: Manufacturing, Automotive, Construction, Hospitality and Agriculture/Landscaping, Information Technology, and concreting through Industry Spaces located in the ShoreTrack Shed. Many of these industry areas are those with employment outcomes or entrepreneurial opportunities in our region. During 2021, we worked with over 150 disadvantaged young people in a variety of programs based on hands on experiential activities focussing on skills and personal development. Our greatest achievement over the last 18 months has been the Track Back Program where we worked with 25 young people aged 1416 on a weekly basis who are currently disengaged or at risk of disengaging from school. These young people were referred by local schools, Youth on Track (Justice), DCJ or NDIS to attend the program between 1 and 5 days per week depending on individual needs. Each participant engaged in activities based on their interest and aspirations including automotive, small engines, agriservices, carpentry, metal fabrication, hospitality, and creative industries. Of these, eight have found entry level employment including four apprenticeships, eight returned to school and seven who required additional support continued at ST.
