The Stroke Recovery Association is a focal point for information about Stroke prevention and recovery. We provide: Information/Counselling Information Kits on Stroke and Recovery o A practical Guide to Stroke Recovery Telephone counselling and support 1300 Line Referrals to other services Regular newsletters to members and club members Advocacy/Education Advice on Stroke policy and programme development Stroke advocacy, by empowering and consulting broadly with individuals and Stroke Recovery Clubs Stroke education through seminars, training workshops and presentations Highlighting the issues of Stroke during Stroke Awareness Week Stroke Recovery Clubs Coordinate 40 Stroke Recovery Clubs/groups/choirs around NSW that provide support, friendship and activities for Strokeaffected people and their carers. The Association has expanded this year to incorporate Aphasia specific Stroke Groups and has incorporated Aphasia NSW as part of its coordination function. All Stroke Recovery Clubs are organised by volunteers and run with little or no outside funding Clubs can range in size from 34 people who meet regularly for coffee and a chat to groups of in excess of 60 80 who meet and organise more structure activities. The Association has expanded its services to provide 20 online support groups per month targeted specifically at members in rural and remote areas.
