Happy 97th Birthday to our wonderful friends Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia! 🥳 On the morning of 17 May, 1928 the newly created Australian Inland Mission Aerial Medical Service in Cloncurry, Queensland (later to be renamed the Royal Flying Doctor Service) received the first emergency call from the Julia Creek Bush Nursing Home – about 96km from Cloncurry in Western Queensland. From that first flight, the RFDS has grown into one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres.✈️ For 97 years they have treated thousands of patients and saved hundreds of lives because of the work they do in regional and remote communities.
