Today is Woorabinda Day, a chance for the community to celebrate its strength and resilience, and an opportunity for us to acknowledge our incredible Murrup staff. Woorabinda is situated on the traditional lands of the Wadja Wadja and Ghungalu People and covers 391 square kilometres. It was established in 1927, when 300 First Nations Peoples from 52 clans across Queensland were forcibly relocated from Taroom, 250 kilometres away. Today, Woorabinda is home to more than 1,000 people. We are proud to have partnered with the Woorabinda community since 2014 and work with Wadja Wadja High School and Woorabinda State School to support students throughout their education journey and beyond. We believe that First Nations young peoples have the right to selfdetermination. But in order to create the future of their dreams young people must have the freedom to choose freedom from barriers and freedom from racism. Bright futures come from true freedom.
