Our Prep students had an unforgettable visit from the Bundoora Fire Station crew today! After learning about fire safety in class, students were thrilled to explore a real fire truck and even have a go at using the fire hose. It was a fun and hands-on way to see what firefighters do to keep our community safe. Our College was filled with colour and creativity last week as students dressed in bright colours or as their favourite toy to support Encompass Care’s Christmas Toy Drive. During lunchtime, Zooper Doopers and chips were also on sale, with all proceeds going towards purchasing toys for children from families who receive food support from Encompass Care. This fundraiser was planned and led by our Years 11 and 12 VCE Vocational Major students, who have been volunteering at Encompass Care’s food crisis centre every fortnight throughout the year. As part of their studies, students were required to plan, implement and evaluate a community project, and they chose to dedicate their efforts to supporting Encompass Care’s Christmas Toy Drive. Well done to the VCE VM students for their initiative, teamwork and heart for serving others. Next week the class will use the funds raised to purchase and donate toys, which will then be distributed to families in need.
