Dear Highmount Community, In light of the abhorrent and devastating sexual abuse crimes committed against children in Melbourne, we believe it is our duty to reaffirm our unshakeable commitment to child safety and use our voices to advocate for all children. At Highmount Preschool, child safety is non-negotiable and lives and breathes in our actions, beliefs, policies and processes. Nothing is more important than the safety of children. We will continue to act for the highest standards of child safety and push back against complacency, corner cutting, and silence. We would also like to assure our community that the offender in this case, Joshua Dale Brown, has not worked at or been associated with Highmount Preschool. We would also like to clarify that the offender in this case, Joshua Dale Brown, has also not worked for or been affiliated with the relief agency, ANZUK, that we engage with. We, at Highmount Preschool, will continually strive to ensure best practice is applied and we commit to following any recommendations from the Department of Education and the Commission for Children and Young People. Finally, we must remember that child safety is everybody's responsibility and it is with a united purpose to protect children that we have the best chance of keeping them safe.
