Sadly, too many of the young people we support have experienced rejection and homelessness simply because of who they are. ☑️ Tomorrow's the big day! ☑️ If it's your first time voting, the AEC has lots of helpful info about how the process works. Watch the video or read the transcript below to learn more about your right to vote in secret. 📝In Australia, we have the right and responsibility to vote at elections. This includes the right to vote in secret. In fact, the secret ballot was invented here in Australia, and in some countries, it's even referred to as the Australian ballot. With a secret ballot, you can vote the way you want to, in private, without threats, pressure or intimidation. When you enter a polling place or receive your ballot papers by mail, your vote is your choice. It’s just you and your ballot papers. Once you've voted, your ballot papers are put in a securely sealed ballot box, safely transported and never left unattended. During counting, you don't need to tell anyone how you voted unless you want to. No one will know how you voted unless you choose to tell them. You — and you alone — control your vote. No one else gets to decide it for you. It is your choice, and your chance to decide what you think, how you feel, and to use that information to inform your vote.
