Palliative Care South East provides palliative care to people with a life-limiting illnessness residing in Melbourne's South East. A not-for-profit organisation supporting people with a life-limiting illness to live well Principal Activities The principal activities of the company during the course of the financial year were to provide home based specialist palliative care services and bereavement support to people living in the Local Government areas of the Cities of Casey, Greater Dandenong and Kingston (part) and the Shire of Cardinia. Due to the ongoing Covid19 Pandemic, these activities continued to be impacted. Telehealth and phone support have become embedded services., The ongoing continuity of homebased services has been enabled throughout the pandemic with a Covid Safe plan in place. This includes face to face and inhome visitation with relevant personal protective equipment. The service was considered an essential service for the intent of Covid restrictions, and all staff were able to continue their roles, with risk screening in place for all visits. The palliative care service experienced a significant increase in activity with every lockdown event with clients and carers seeking additional care within their home and limitations on resources in the community impacting and increasing need. Staff and client safety remained tantamount in service planning. Covidrelated funding from the Department of Health was received on a nonrecurrent basis to assist the organisation s role in reducing hospital intake patients. Capital works continued on the land at 80 Victor Crescent Narre Warren. The new site will house the services and expand the community opportunity and offerings available. The total project is forecast to cost between $4.5m$5m, and is expected to be completed in December 2022, depending on Covid19 related and any other delays.
