A secular non-profit independent community organisation working to bring social justice & improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in the community. Arab Council Australia (Council) s services continued to deliver strong results for families, children, youth, the elderly and those with varying needs and abilities. The economic crisis brought on by the pandemic continues to impact communities, and Council adapted to address emerging and existing community need. Council delivered emergency relief support with 40 clients receiving assistance with WDOs, 818 clients served through the EAPA scheme, and 373 clients receiving food and grocery vouchers. The Family Support Service provided 4,155 occasions of service during which individuals and families received material assistance, housing, domestic violence support, mental health support, and form filling assistance. The Gambling Help and Financial Counselling program which concluded in December 2021 held 1,030 sessions and provided casework support to clients, their families and friends. A transition to GambleAware service was provided for two months, and from 229 active clients, 49 agreed to a transition through a warm referral. The Arabic Seniors Social and Information Network (ASSIN) program engaged 74 participants engaged in 28 excursions and 19 information sessions during periods of face to face service delivery. 582 remote sessions were delivered during periods of lockdown due to COVID19. The Stronger Connections program, running successfully for six years concluded in June 2022. During the 21/22FY this service continued to provide children and parents with a range of activities around early childhood, school readiness, speech pathology, nutrition and fitness. During school terms, 26 parents and 31 children participated in Playgroup and 35 parents in the Parenting Support Group. During school term holidays, Vacation Care activities engaged 53 parents and 103 children. The NDIS Gateway Service with 203 occasions of service provided assistance to people with disability to access the NDIS, and to develop and implement care plans. The Arability project was implemented targeting Carers and Siblings of people with disability. Information sessions and activities took place with 160 Parents and carers and 134 siblings participating across the project. From the Ground Up to Equality project continued the delivery of the Gender Equality program to community groups with 79 participants completing the program, and 12 community workers completing the accredited training to deliver the program. The Sanadi Foundation continued to develop with further programs being delivered and provision of support and activities for people impacted by cancer as well as implementing cancer related projects. In this reporting period 210 participants engaged in the breast screening awareness and bowel screening information sessions, 71 participants in research and consultation including the development of a Breast Reconstruction Decision aid. The Sanadi Support group grew to 48 participants engaging in a variety of information, healthy lifestyle and other activities.
