We work collab The last 12 months has been an exceptional time of growth, connection and continuing to build the foundations of a movement for justice system change. The Justice Reform Initiative has four connected strategic approaches to bring about change including: 1. Political advocacy; 2. Public facing campaign work; 3. Bringing diverse stakeholders together; and 4. Building our supporter base. Alongside this strategic work, the Justice Reform Initiative is also working to support governments, parliamentarians, and stakeholders around Australia to develop and implement the evidencebased reform and policy solutions that are required to reduce incarceration and build community led alternatives. The Justice Reform Initiative engaged in extensive political advocacy, public facing campaign work, stakeholder and supporter engagement to work towards its goal of reducing incarceration and building a community in which disadvantage is no longer met with a criminal justice system response. Between July 2021 and June 2022: 274 distinct stakeholder meetings were held 53 political meetings with parliamentarians from all sides of politics around Australia were held 15 public talks and presentations focused on how 'Jailing is Failing' were given 15 Papers, Submissions and Reports were published 7 'Jailing is Failing' media releases were put out 22 media stories featuring the Justice Reform Initiative were published (multiple more syndicated) 6 Board meetings were held 10 staff were recruited between January 2022 and June 2022
