For this month’s staff spotlight, please say hello to Sompasong Phongphila—though most of us at CHAI know her as Ly or Lily. With a background in IT and health systems, Ly’s journey into public health began in the field, supporting cold chain monitoring with UNICEF. That hands-on experience sparked a passion that’s taken her through roles at WHO, UNICEF, and now CHAI. Since joining CHAI Lao PDR in 2019, Ly has grown from Associate to Acting Deputy, bringing curiosity, warmth, and determination to everything she does. We’re lucky to have her on the team and excited to be able to shine a spotlight on her this month. 61,600 children in Ghana suffer from severe wasting each year. But fewer than 15% currently receive treatment. Today, a new $2.15M partnership between Ghana Health Service, CHAI, and the Eleanor Crook Foundation is changing that reality. For the first time, life-saving Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food will be routinely available through Ghana's public health system.
