ACOCO Singing stories of today and tomorrow to inspire, ignite and connect people. ACOCo is a contemporary opera company that expands the operatic form. We bring together interdisciplinary artists to create collaborative productions and performances, to contribute to shaping the cultural landscape of Australia, and our national identity. ACOCo presents opera as a living form that responds to new perspectives and voices in Australia, and around the world. In 2022, our programs strengthened appreciation and access in city, suburban and regional areas. The stories we told engaged audiences in contemporary social issues and enhanced appreciation of opera with existing and new audiences. We strengthened Australia's international reputation as producer, collaborator and supporter of new works We fed the pipeline of outstanding Australian talent and skills. Our work decreased social isolation and boosted civic pride through encouraging and enabling access and participation In 2022, ACOCo provided employment for 63 established and emerging Australian artists and musicians, 20 performances of contemporary opera across 11 venues, 4 new productions, including outdoor family opera, and 3 Australian premieres. We also made progress in commissioning and collaborating on new Australian works.
