Cure4CF Foundation Limited
The Cure4CF Foundation Limited is an Australian nonprofit organization dedicated to funding and supporting medical research aimed at finding a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF). Established in 2009, the foundation operates as a registered charity focused on advancing scientific efforts to combat this genetic disease[2][3].
Mission and Activities
Cure4CF’s primary goal is to raise funds for the most promising cystic fibrosis research projects across Australia. The foundation supports research initiatives such as the Adelaide CF Airway Gene Therapy Research Group and the Adelaide ENT Research Team. By providing grants to the scientific and medical communities, Cure4CF aims to accelerate the discovery of a cure for CF, a condition that affects approximately 3,000 people in Australia and 70,000 worldwide[2][3].
The organization emphasizes community engagement and partnership to inspire fundraising efforts. It mobilizes everyday people to participate in raising funds, framing cystic fibrosis as a solvable problem that requires collective action. Cure4CF shares stories of hope and highlights its impact on advancing research to encourage broader public support in the fight against CF[1].
Governance and Structure
Cure4CF Foundation operates under the governance of a board of directors with expertise in corporate and nonprofit management, finance, business development, fundraising, legal compliance, and risk management. The foundation evolved from a parent-led research support group initiated in 2003, reflecting a longstanding commitment by families affected by CF to champion research efforts[2].
The foundation’s team includes a CEO, research and operations coordinators, partnerships managers, and research and development leads, all working collaboratively to steer the organization’s strategic goals and community outreach[2].
Funding and Impact
Cure4CF is recognized as the largest private funder of cystic fibrosis research in Australia. Donations collected by the foundation are directed exclusively to supporting research projects with the greatest potential to contribute to a cure. This strong focus on effective use of funds reassures supporters that their contributions foster meaningful progress towards eradication of CF[2][4].
The foundation maintains compliance with Australian charity registration and reporting standards, ensuring transparency and accountability in its operations[3][5].
Conclusion
Cure4CF Foundation Limited is a vital Australian charity devoted to curing cystic fibrosis through funding innovative research. With a dedicated leadership team and active community engagement, the foundation continues to drive advances in CF treatment with the hope of ultimately eliminating the disease.

Research = Hope for families like Simon’s 🧡 Living with cystic fibrosis means daily treatments, constant challenges, and a future filled with uncertainty. But research is changing that. Right now, Cure4CF is proudly supporting a world-first gene therapy clinical trial, aimed at treating the underlying cause of CF, not just the symptoms. It’s bold, complex science that could lead to life-changing results. As Simon’s mum shares: "For us, research means the world. As parents of a child with cystic fibrosis, it’s the hope we cling to each and every day. It’s what fuels our belief in a brighter future, not just for our son Simon, but for everyone living with cystic fibrosis. Research is more than just science, it’s the doorway to endless possibilities. Every breakthrough brings renewed hope for a life with fewer barriers. It’s because of research that Simon dares to dream bigger and believe in a better tomorrow." Every breakthrough matters. Every dream is worth fighting for. 🧡 You can read about our research - including Simon's Project - that are bringing hope to familes just like Simon's here: www.cure4cf.org/current-research-projects/ #CFResearch #Cure4CF #All4TheFight #TeamSimon (fb)
🌟 Ambassador Spotlight: Mae 🌟 Meet Mae - Cure4CF Ambassador, forensic science graduate, and now a medical student! Despite the daily challenges of cystic fibrosis, Mae is thriving. Studying medicine in Mount Gambier alongside her partner, Cam, who’s also on the same path. 👩⚕️🩺 “I’m so grateful for where I am today, and for amazing medications like Trikafta that help keep me healthy,” Mae shares. “I'm also incredibly thankful for the support of this community, which drives life-changing research forward.” As someone living with CF and working toward a future in medicine, Mae has a special interest in one of Cure4CF’s most exciting projects - the Rapid Phage Project at Curtin University. 🧬 “As a person with CF, with an interest in medicine, A/Prof Anthony Kicic’s Rapid Phage Project at Curtin University is a very interesting study. Throughout my studies so far, I have gravitated towards the exploration of phages in personalised medicine and am always following the newest research. The Rapid Phage Project could provide valuable methodology into speeding up the process of matching phages to treat bacterial infections in CF patients. Whilst there is still a way to go before this treatment can be used regularly in treatment, this project is an exciting next step in making that happen.” Mae’s passion for science and her lived experience with CF remind us why this research matters, because every breakthrough brings us one step closer to better, more personalised care. #All4TheFight (fb)
