Today is World Drowning Prevention Day, an opportunity to raise awareness about how to be safe in and around the water. Our aquatic centres across the state have been taking part in Safety Week, which provides students with important safety skills such as floating, rescues, survival strokes, and swimming with clothes on. We know how much Australians love the water and we want everyone to be equipped with the skills they need to enjoy the water safely, whether it's at the beach, pool or river. Whyalla Recreation Centre has had a facelift! Thanks to our partners Whyalla City Council, the façade update follows on from the pool renovation last year, to provide a vibrant space for the community. The fresh space is already on display and being used by the community, including the end point of the Whyalla NAIDOC week walk, and starting this coming Saturday the space for a new morning fruit and veg market in collaboration with Eyre Peninsula Produce.
