Science & Technology Australia is Australia s peak body for the science and technology sector. We have 118 member organisations and represent a powerful network of more than 105,000 scientists and technologists nationwide, spanning both the public and private sectors. STA's purpose is to advance education, health, social welfare, the environment and public debate by activating, leveraging and connecting the deep expertise of Australia s science and technology sectors. To achieve our charitable purpose, our activities include: (a) delivering education, outreach and other programs to advance the science and technology sector s ability to contribute to public debate, policymaking and the public good; (b) connecting scientists and technologists with Parliamentarians, the public service, the research sector and industry; (c) making submissions and giving evidence to Parliament and Government to bring science and technology expertise into policymaking; (d) articulating the expert views of Australia s scientists and technologists in statements on policy and contributing to national discussions and public debate on Australia s future; (e) forming partnerships and alliances to enhance the role of science and technology in Australia, bringing representative bodies together to collaborate on issues facing the science, technology, engineering and mathematics sector; and (f) any other activities ancillary to or necessary for the fulfilment of the Charitable Purpose.
