Vimokkharam is a Theravada Buddhist Monastery of the Thai forest tradition situated near the village of Kallista in the Dandenong Ranges of Melbourne, Aus Vimokkharam is a Theravada Buddhist Hermitage of the Thai forest tradition; a seminal place of education, spiritual practice and leadership through resident monastics who strive to encourage the teachings and practices of The Buddha. Special emphasis is placed on the traditions of meditation, wisdom, community engagement and benevolence. The overall mission is achieved by providing daily opportunity to engage resident monks, weekly free meditation and community engagement events and rituals.

Established in 1998 the Hermitage is an Associated Monastery in the tradition and teachings of the late Ajahn Chah. The Hermitage is a place of practice and residence for monastics with the shared intention of freedom from all mental suffering. It is open to visitors who wish to visit a place where there is the opportunity to develop mindfulness and explore the spiritual teachings of the Buddha and to contribute to the life of the community.
