The Jindera Pioneer Museum & Historical Society Inc was formed to acquire, conserve, and exhibit items of historical significance. The society purchased Wagner's Store, a residence, and the grounds, which included a wattle and daub hut, to establish its museum complex. This acquisition served as the foundation for the museum's extensive collection.
Museum Complex
The museum complex is renowned for its diverse range of exhibits and architectural features. It includes a historic store setup, several dwellings reflecting pioneer to late Victorian architecture, and a significant collection of historic machinery and transport. A highlight of the complex is the 1874 Blacksmith and stables, which showcase the region's industrial heritage.
Exhibits
The museum boasts over 400 exhibits spread across more than 25 rooms and galleries. The displays feature authentic furnishings and artifacts from the pioneer and Victorian periods. Notable exhibits include beautifully crafted old garments, antique store fixtures, and a variety of old farming machinery and drays.
Community Engagement
The museum is deeply involved in community activities, hosting various events such as high teas, live music performances, and twilight openings. It also offers a peaceful setting for private functions and picnics amidst its two-acre garden.
Operations
The museum operates daily throughout the year, except for Christmas Day and Good Friday. During the warmer months, it is open from 10 am to 4 pm, and in the cooler months from 10 am to 3 pm. Visitors can enjoy a traditional Devonshire Tea in the museum's Tea Room every Sunday.

I had no idea how big the museum actually was you drive past and see the frontbut there is so much more than that to see. Well worth the stop. Roslyn Brown About The Jindera Pioneer Museum boasts more than 400 exhibits surrounded by two acres of gardens including the largest display of pioneer agriculture machinery. Open daily the museum welcomes visitors from 10 am to 4 pm during the warmer months and from 10 am to 3 pm in the cooler season with closures only on Christmas Day and Good Friday.
