A global feminist agency working to advance gender equality and end violence against women and girls. We bring together the world’s best minds to make violence against women and girls a thing of the past. The Equality Hub provided event management support of the annual Women of Colour Melbourne gathering event held on the 20th of November 2021. The conference theme was RECLAIMING POWER Surviving, thriving, raising our diverse voices and was developed in consultation with Women of Colour Melbourne Collective and the Women of Colour (WOC) community. The event focussed on these women reclaiming their diverse voices and sharing insights into how they can reclaim power in their workplaces, families and communities, and in relation to their ongoing health and wellbeing. It was an opportunity for many to come together in solidarity, celebrate the strength in their diversity and share inspirational stories of resilience, not only surviving but thriving while reckoning with a global pandemic, climate crisis and structural racism. Inspirational speakers included Azmeena Hussain OAM. The Equality Hub also provided core support to our partner project on Using Finance to Create Transformative Change in Australia, which aims to leverage the collective power of Australian stakeholders to advance gender equality and social justice through investments. Donations contributed to continuing consultations and design sessions held with Australian stakeholders across sectors and disciplines, including those working on: the prevention of genderbased violence in Australia; philanthropic support of women and girls initiatives; gender, social, and economic justice within Australia s indigenous communities; and finance, impact investing, and gender lens investing. These consultations resulted in the design of five themes with multiple accompanying strategies under each theme for how a variety of actors can finance the reduction of genderbased violence in Australia.
