Have your say on mental health and wellbeing services in NSW! The NSW Mental Health Commission is seeking community input on how mental health services are working in NSW, and how they might be improved. Factors you might want to consider in your responses to advocate for criminalised communities include: 👉Prison Mental Health Services - Access to ongoing mental health support like counselling in NSW prisons 👉Culturally Safe Services - Fund and prioritise culturally safe and appropriate mental health and wellbeing services, including for First Nations communities 👉Medicare and PBS Access in Prison - Currently people in prison do not have access to these, which limits access to essential healthcare, including for mental health and wellbeing. 👉Justice Reinvestment - The need for government to divert funds from a criminal legal system response (e.g. incarceration) to appropriate community programs and services that actually work. 👉Reform in NSW Prison – Change on the ground. This includes: a) free phone calls, b)meeting people’s dietary requirements, c) ending strip searches in prisons, d) adequate environmental conditions, including time out of cells, warm clothing and blankets, and e) access to educational, development and wellbeing programs.
