Peel-Harvey Catchment Council | Working Together

Working together for a healthy Peel-Harvey PHCC is an incorporated, not-for-profit, community based Natural Resource Management organisation that promotes an integrated approach to catchment management and the way we protect and restore the environment. PHCC works to promote an integrated approach to catchment management and the way we protect and restore the environment within the PeelHarvey catchment. In 2021/2022 PHCC delivered quality environmental projects to the value of ~$4 million. These projects address; river and wetland restoration, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture and building community capacity. PHCC works build on our strong relationships with landholders, community groups, industry, the Australian Government, Government of Western Australia and local governments. We continue to foster constructive partnerships across a broad range of stakeholders including multiple community Landcare groups (providing sources for onground and community engagement) and importantly individual landowners (particularly farmers). In conjunction with these relationships, and to target our community awareness/education goals, we have facilitated a number of community events including; our third annual Wetland Weekender, Numbat Neighbourhood Workshops and events, Great Cocky Count Workshops, Lake Clifton Seedling Giveaway/knowledge sharing, agricultural and restoration field days and many more. We have continued to aid our landholders with technical and financial support, particularly providing Community Environmental Grants and Landholder Agreements for a diverse range of onground works towards the protection of natural assets in the Catchment. The increasing number of applications and partnerships reflects the positive standing of the PHCC with our community. Noongar participation is a key aspect across all PHCC projects. We have a continuous focus on improving capacity for Noongar employment and long term benefits to our Noongar Community. PHCC continues to assist our Noongar community and the Winjan Bindjareb Ranger Program in building capacity and employment opportunities, including delivering the Bindjareb Gabi Wonga and Bring Together Walk Together programs, developed with our Noongar Community. PHCC presence and works continue to grow across the Catchment with an aim to restoring A Healthy Catchment that supports life and lifestyle.
