Today is International Day Against LGBTIQA+ Discrimination (IDAHOBIT) – an important opportunity to stand with and celebrate LGBTIQA+ people and communities. IDAHOBIT was first held in 2005, and marks the date that homosexuality was removed from the World Health Organisation’s Classification of Diseases in 1990. While IDAHOBIT is definitely a celebration of that milestone decision, and all the civil, social and legal wins for the LGBTQIA+ community since then, it is also a day to recognise how much more still needs to change, and encourages communities, organisations and individuals to work together to build a world free from discrimination.
