SERVICE LEARNING This Term, students and families across ELC and K,1,2 have come together in a show of generosity to support Hope in a Suitcase, a charity that provides children entering out-of-home or foster care with a suitcase filled with personal and comforting items they can call their own. Through collective fundraising efforts and the donation of brand new goods, the Shore community has helped bring a sense of dignity, care and hope to children experiencing a time of great transition and uncertainty. This initiative is part of Shore’s ongoing Character in Action programme, which encourages students to serve others with empathy and integrity, and to contribute positively to the wider community. AFL Shore’s First XVIII hosted the inaugural Shore’s Longest Kick Competition this week, bringing together students and staff from across the School for an afternoon of friendly rivalry and impressive footy skills. The event welcomed participants from all departments and skill levels, celebrating both AFL enthusiasts and those from other sporting backgrounds. The competition saw outstanding performances across all divisions. In the Years 7 to 9 category, Isaac (Year 9) recorded the longest kick at an impressive 55m. Among the Years 10 to 12 students, William (Year 12) claimed the title with a remarkable 61m kick. The staff round was fiercely contested, but it was Mr Ed Craig who emerged victorious putting his Rugby skills to use, launching the ball 59 metres down the field. For perspective, it’s 87m from goal post to goal post on the School Oval, meaning our winners sent their kicks soaring well over half the length of the field!
