Meet 12-year-old Pearl. Pearl has Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome and is receiving treatment here in NQ thanks to your donations, as well as a generous contribution of $35,000 from Glencore Queensland Metals. Thanks to the incredible NQ community, Brighter Lives has acquired a cutting-edge laser to treat burns, scarring, and vascular conditions in children, helping kids like Pearl to receive treatment here in North Queensland. Each year the new laser will treat over 200 kids from across NQ, meaning treatment close to home, school and family support. The laser is effective for vascular conditions like port wine stains, hemangiomas, and other blood vessel abnormalities. Pearl’s condition causes small, fragile blood vessels to break through the skin, leading to frequent bleeding. The laser can coagulate these vessels to prevent bleeding, offering her a safer and more effective treatment option. Thank you to the amazing and generous donors across NQ for making this possible for kids like Pearl. The new laser ensures children can receive world-class care locally, keeping care close to home.
