WEA Sydney is a notforprofit organisation that continued its mission to bring a wide variety of educational activities to the citizens of Sydney, attracting large numbers of lifelong learners from the seniors demographic (over 60). These activities have distinct social benefits beyond simple study. WEA Sydney attracts nearly 10,000 students each year to its mix of course, and of these, the largest demographic is the over 60 age group. As such, WEA Sydney provides a vital outlet for older Australians to maintain their mental health through study, in a way that is steadily being recognised. We offer full concession rates to these students to assist their enrolment, with WEA Sydney conceding $70,051 in fee income in 2022 to students who were pensioners, disabled or unemployed. WEA Sydney receives no government support in its work, it is a notforprofit association governed by its members.
